My name is Dan Parker, and I am 100% blind. Thank you for supporting my goal of becoming the World’s Fastest Blind Man with my project 2008 Corvette.

On March 31, 2022, while racing on the Spaceport America runway in New Mexico, I clocked a top speed of 212 MPH and officially became the world’s fastest blind driver with a Guinness World Record average speed of 211.043 MPH!

Dan Parker is Born

I was born into a racing family on July 2, 1970 in Salem, Alabama. My father, Jimmy Parker, still races today. I was 8 years old when dad entered me into a mini bike class at an all-motorcycle event, and I placed second!
Started Driving Pro Mods

1997

Started Driving Pro Mods

In 1997, I started driving Pro Mods for Ellis Milner. I have won one Dixie Pro Stock championship as well as the 2005 ADRL Pro Nitrous world championship title. I was also in the first side-by-side 3-second Pro Nitrous pass. Racing was my life, and I never imagined it would be taken from me.

The Accident

In 2012, I was involved in a horrific wreck. It was a miracle that I survived the accident at all, but I was rendered completely blind as a result. I was determined to continue life as usual, and to keep racing. I made a plan.
The Comeback

2013

The Comeback

I built a motorcycle and became the first-ever blind man to race at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2013, then set my class record in 2014 with no exemptions for blindness.

The Next Steps

I built a 2008 C6 Chevrolet Corvette in hopes of becoming the world’s fastest blind driver. It took years of hard work and perseverance, but exactly ten years to the day after the violent accident where I lost my sight, I achieved that goal.

I attended your recent speaking event held at Autobahn Country Club. I was very happy to see the large turnout from McDonald’s and their support of the event. Everyone I spoke to after the event was very moved.

Your story of overcoming tragedy, finding your life’s purpose, and dedicating yourself to helping others with disabilities inspired everyone in the audience.

Your natural storytelling, mixing in the right amount of humor while describing the events won the audience over immediately. You had everyone smiling and at some moments there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

At the end of the day, your personal story and the way you relate it, not only raised awareness of disabilities, but kept your audience engaged and inspired people to take action and get involved. I personally have not attended a more inspirational speaking event.

I wish you all the best and hope you continue to tell your story and inspire people around the world. Thank you!

I just want to thank Dan Parker for speaking at the Neptune Technology Group Supplier Symposium. Dan’s inspirational story held the attention of our suppliers and employees unlike anyone I have ever experienced, especially while he was describing the accident and his struggles during recovery.

What Dan has accomplished since then is simply amazing. He has found ways to continue pursuing his passion as a machinist, race car builder, and driver while blind. He is now the Fastest Blind man in the World!

But perhaps more importantly, by sharing the story from his heart, he is inspiring others to follow their passion and not be defined or limited by anything. Dan’s motto, “You can make excuses, or you can make it happen” rings true as a reminder to everyone.
